Dubbed “the Woodstock of Eating,” Smorgasburg is the largest weekly open-air food market in America, welcoming more than 2 million visitors a year to markets in New York, Los Angeles and Miami. It launched in May 2011 as a spinoff of Brooklyn Flea and has since incubated hundreds of independent businesses vending food and drink from around the world. Past expansions include season-long markets in Jersey City, Toronto, Kingston, NY, and Washington, D.C; recurring pop-ups in Osaka, Japan and Sao Paulo, Brazil; and more. In New York, Smorgasburg operates the concessions at BRIC’s popular Celebrate Brooklyn! performance series in Prospect Park, and has activated its unique food festival experience in partnership with numerous other institutions and brands. Smorgasburg’s New York locations — at the Oculus at World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan, the original Williamsburg waterfront location, and at Breeze Hill in Prospect Park — re-open for the season April 5-7, 2024 through October.
